A Royal Marine injured while serving his country in Afghanistan is gearing up for a gruelling cycling fundraiser.
Don Maclean from Bearsden will ride 3,000 miles across the US, with the money generated being donated to armed forces charity Help for Heroes, the Milngavie and Bearsden Herald reports.
The 34-year-old is to join seven others as they make their way from San Diego on the west coast to Annapolis, which is situated close to Washington.
More than 350 miles will be covered by the group each day, with four of the participants riding upright bicycles and the other four traversing the terrain on modified machines operable by hand.
Mr Maclean noted: "If I can inspire anyone to show them there is life after injury then that's great."
The journey will see the team heading through 12 states, while a climb of more than 100,000 feet is likely to really put the challengers through their paces.
