Four soldiers from the Royal Engineers are going to run 75 miles in 12 hours in an effort to raise money for an armed forces charity.

The troops will undertake the gruelling challenge at their Camp Bastion base for Help for Heroes on treadmills, the Wisbech Standard reports.

Chrissie Matthews, one of the people taking part, said the plan is to run for one hour, then take one hour off for a whole day.

"The challenge is going to be far from easy but we are all determined to complete it and raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity," he added.

Mr Matthews, who is in the middle of his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, said he has seen the help provided by the military charity first hand.

Mark Herbert, Levi Scarlett and Ben Whitbread are the other soldiers who are looking to complete the 75-mile distance.
