Rod Stewart has announced free tickets to his summer tour are to be made available for members of the Armed Forces and their families.

The rock star has made the offer to show his support for the Tickets for Troops campaign, the Press Association reports.

It includes two shows the "legendary hitmaker" will be performing on his travels – the Sheffield Arena on July 20th and one at the Glasgow Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

According to the news agency, servicemen and women can expect to hear the Scot "belting out chart-toppers" such as Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, Tonight’s the Night and Maggie May.

The events will see the continuation of the campaign, which was set up last year to provide admission to music, sporting and entertainment spectacles for those in the military.

It was recently revealed the Wales Millennium Centre has signed up to be a part of the Tickets for Troops programme, joining other venues such as the O2 Arena in London and the Royal Opera House by doing so.
