Revellers go for a night out in Middlesbrough…wake up in Thailand

We've all gone on a night out and done stupid things that we don't remember after a few drinks. In fact, some of us will have even woken up with that strange feeling of being somewhere we've never been before and wondering how we got there. However, one group of English revellers really took the biscuit earlier this month when they claim to have gone on a night out and woken up on the other side of the world!

In scenes reminiscent of something like The Hangover movie franchise, the group claim to have gone on a night out in the north-east in Middlesbrough. However, rather than waking up at home, or even in someone else's house, they instead woke up in Thailand, initially confused somewhat by their arrival.

Phillip Boyle, 33, said that he and a friend were drinking at home with a friend. Their night quickly descended into an all-night session, before they ended up in something of a drunken state, boarding flights for the Far East. 

Mr Boyle told GazetteLive that he and his friend Jamie Blyth started their night with a few cans of beer from the petrol station near their home, before they continued drinking all night. Some time after 1am, Mr Blyth suggested they get a flight to Thailand to visit some friends, before booking a taxi to Manchester airport. 

The next morning, they were in Thailand with little more than Tesco carrier bag with just some T-shirts and underwear…talk about traveling light!

"After lots of jokes, at around 11am the next day with a hangover, Jamie asks if I have my passport handy and comes up with the idea of us going to Thailand straight away. 

"I thought he was joking at first and then he pointed out how there are quite a few lads from Middlesbrough over there we hadn’t seen for a while."

He added that his friend was well known for making such trips, saying that it was a bad idea which turned out pretty well in the end.
