A retired army nurse is continuing her quest to complete 65 different challenges in a year in a bid to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Diana McCrea, 65, has so far completed 23 of the tasks in front of her, along with five other volunteers who are also helping the charity, reports the South Wales Argus.

The group finished one of their tasks – to decorate a total of 65 cards – at Hobbycraft in Newport last week.

Other challenges included in the remarkable fundraising idea include a 65-mile bike ride and making 65 pots of jam.

Mrs McCrea and her friends have already raised £3,921 for the charity and they hope that sum will hit £6,500 by next May, when the challenges come to an end.

She explained: "Part of it was to prove to myself and many people that 65 isn't old and to promote the work that Help for Heroes do."ADNFCR-2867-ID-801651773-ADNFCR
