Summer weddings always give out a fairytale vibe, but this wedding could very well be the wedding of the year! A Royal Marine, Robert Gathland got married to his beloved, Emily Scrace, in a beautiful ceremony on Armed Forces Day when the Red Arrows decided to give him an incredible surprise; a spectacular air display topped off with a stunning Cupid’s arrow displayed directly above their heads!

The couple met while Gathland was a bootcamp instructor at Fit Bootcamp in Hartley Park after which he asked her for some help with his university dissertation. It seems like love had always been in the air even before the Red Arrows literal Cupid’s arrow display as the two started dating pretty soon after meeting each other.

Robert revealed that he fell in love with his now wife’s amazing personality. Considering how much she has worked for charity organizations, we’re not surprised – we’d fall in love with her too!

But wait, there’s more! Emily doesn’t only have a radiant personality, she also seems to be an extremely physically fit person. According to Robert, her ability to do a perfect burpee was one of the things that made him go crazy for her.

The couple got engaged when Gathland proposed on the Royal Marines 354th birthday last year after completing the United States Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC- talk about being patriotic!

The details of their wedding get even more adorable! The service was led by Emily’s dad, a retired cannon and Rev. John Money (42 Cdo RM Padre). After the service, the couple had an intimate reception where the Red Arrows worked their magic. The wedding was quite literally a fairytale with a buggy along with Emily singing in her beautiful voice at the wedding breakfast.

The couple’s song choice is also heartwarming! They danced to Elvis Presley’s ‘Falling in Love’ for their first dance followed by a pretty neat wedding couple rap. The two definitely got the crowd going with their music selection. Needless to say, it was a memorable event not only for the couple but also for everyone who attended the wedding.
