Randy moose falls in love with statue

Residents in one town in the US have become fascinated by a local moose and its seemingly significant passion for a bronze statue in the area.

The lonely animal is said to have chosen the statue of a fellow moose as its new mate and regularly attempts to mount it each morning.

Neighbours believe it has struck up a close bond with the creature in recent times and the relationship has become the talk of Grand Lake in Colorado.

Bob Balink, who lives in Grand Lake, told 9News: "There's two things he wants to do and one of 'em is eat. The strange thing is he's trying to mate with a statue."

Another unnamed local suggested the moose is "in love" with the statue, even going as far as kissing it before climbing on top of it.

Several moose in the area have shown a fondness for the statue, but one is certainly ready to go the extra mile.
