An RAF Flight Lieutenant is preparing to take on a gruelling challenge that has only ever been completed by seven people.

Rachael Cadman will participate in the Enduroman Arch to Arc feat at the end of this month, running 87 miles from London's Marble Arch to Dover, swimming the English Channel, then cycling 181 miles from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

This all needs to be done in just five days, which could explain the low success rates since the challenge began in 2001.

Ms Cadman says: "It sounds pretty daunting … but I have been working up to this for some time and raising money for Help for Heroes and ShelterBox disaster relief is a great motivation."

She explains the RAF have offered her plenty of support, particularly during the important training stages.

Enduroman describes the Arch to Arc challenge as the most gruelling and challenging contest "known to man", as it tests both body and mind to their extreme.
