A pub in Ulverston has managed to generate more than £6,000 for brave troops wounded while serving overseas.
Fundraisers from the Old Farmhouse have generated the princely sum in just one year – and the collection is to be donated to Help for Heroes, the Westmorland Gazette reports.
Licensees Mandy Boyle and Neal Southworth have been joined by a number of regulars over the last 12 months at various money-collecting events.
The efforts – which generated £6,672 in total – were led by local resident Andy Steele, who said: "We started with just two collection tins on the bar but we decided to have a fancy dress party, a motorcycle ride and a singalong too."
He added the group will continue to collect for the cause in 2011.
The Hucknall Dispatch recently reported that two Hucknall-based gigs – one at the Liberal Club and the other at the George Street Club – will raise money for Help for Heroes.
