Profits from an author's debut novel are set to help injured servicemen and women.

Evette Hodgson decided to pen a book to fill her spare time while her partner Andy, a senior aircraftsman, was on detachments with the RAF at Brize Norton, the Star reports.

Entitled Amber Secrets, the fantasy novel is now available to purchase online and 10p from every sale will go to Help for Heroes.

"The book is a fantasy, it's all about magic and witches with an underlying love story. I'd describe it as a mixture of Harry Potter and Twilight really," she added.

Ms Hodgson, whose day job sees her work with excluded young people, noted she has always fancied having a go at writing and thought this represented the ideal opportunity.

She added she has received great feedback so far – which she is very happy about – and she hopes it is not the last book she writes.
