Prince William has thrown his backing behind a charity initiative aiming to raise £1 million for armed forces charities.

Ten for Ten – an organisation set up to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the war in Afghanistan – wants to collect the cash for army rehabilitation centres by 10:00 BST on October 10th.

The royal stated: "As … a serving member of our armed forces, I am delighted to offer my support to the Ten for Ten campaign."

All of the money gathered from the endeavour will go to Help for Heroes and the Army Benevolent Fund.

Alix Hodge, a teacher at Cothill School in Oxfordshire, is the person behind the initiative and she is delighted that Prince William is backing Ten for Ten.

In order to help it reach the target, a ten-day event called Sports Salute for our Troops will be held.

During this time, football and rugby clubs will designate one game between October 1st and 10th and encourage supporters at the match to donate at least £1.
