Police ‘seize cannon used to fire marijuana from Mexico to US’

Police have moved to seize a large cannon that was being used in Mexico in order to fire marijuana over the border and into the US.

Officers confiscated the makeshift device, which was centred on a large plastic pipe and a smaller tank in the city of Mexicali.

It was reportedly being used to launch packages of the drug weighing as much as 13 kg to recipients on the US side of the border.

The scheme was uncovered when police operating in the US found a number of the suspect packages abandoned having been fired through the air.

Those behind the operation had used compressed air from the engine of an old car in order to launch the drugs high enough into the air to reach their destination.

Police will now have to put their thinking caps on once again in order to work out any future plans that are as outrageous as this one.
