A group of 23 kind-hearted police officers are soon set to embark on a gruelling mission to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

The Lewisham policemen will be taking part in the Fan Dance event on May 29th in the hope of raising £10,000 for the cause, which gives support to members of the armed forces who have been wounded in battle, the News Shopper reports.

After training twice a week for the last five months, the team will have to run a staggering 24 kilometres across the highest point in the Welsh mountains Pen y Fan.

But if that is not enough, they will also be required to carry with them a backpack weighing 50lbs and water.

Meanwhile, 42-year-old policeman Andy Seery recently announced plans to complete 30 marathons in 30 days while dressed as an ostrich in order to raise funds for Help for Heroes, the Sun reported.
