Help for Heroes stands to gain from a huge journey across Greenland that will be completed by an RAF pilot.
Flight lieutenant Will Hardesty is aiming to cover the 600km route along with two of his friends, David Paabo and Souvik Paul, reports the Cambridge News.
They will ski the significant distance over a total of 28 days, in the process coming to terms with temperatures as low as -28 degrees C.
Mr Hardesty explained: "While the Greenland expedition will be arduous due to the physical challenge combined with the freezing cold, it's important to remember that many people face tough challenges in their daily lives not through choice."
The team is scheduled to go skiing for about ten hours of each day of the trek and they will have to drag about 100kg of kit across the landscape.
It will take them from the Fjords on the west coast of Greenland to their final destination of Isortog.
