Pigeon arrested on spying charges

A pigeon has been arrested after being mistaken for a spy, it has been revealed.

Indian police mistook the unfortunate bird for a Pakistani spy and sent the creature to jail for espionage, according to the reports.

The trouble started after mysterious note attached to the animal – which was written in Urdu listed a Pakistani phone number.

Upon the discovery, a 14 year old carried the bird to the police after suspecting that it was a spy in disguise.

The forces claimed that the pigeon was on a special mission and believed the bird may have carried a hidden camera to record activities in the country.

Speaking to the Baaghi TV, Superintendent Rajesh Koshal that as the police were unable to ascertain the identity of the bird, they had no choice but to remand the creature in custody.

He said: "We have done its X-ray too, just to make sure there must not be any chip or transmitter in it. But we didn’t find any clue. Several agencies are working on it. We can’t say anything with surety unless we read the Urdu line.

"It is possible that the pigeon betrayed and crossed the boundary, because many people here are having pigeons. But I have been here for the last 18 months and I have not faced any such incident before. It is an armed area, so we have to deal with the case more carefully.”

The police believed the bird was used as a spy jet. They claim that as many soldiers are present in the area where it was caught, there is a possibility that the bird was sent on a mission to take pictures of them.

The pigeon was dubbed as a “Pakistan Spy-Pigeon” and jailed until a formal decision is made.
