Single soldiers on the lookout for love through online dating may find they are able to achieve optimal success with the medium if they are able to stand out from the crowd.

Evan Marc Katz, a dating coach from Los Angeles, US has claimed the key to finding the right prospective partners for singletons is to distinguish themselves from all other users, Philly.com reports.

The specialist claimed individuals should avoid generic descriptions – such as professing an enjoyment of music and movies – as they are not likely to grab people's attention.

"Most people aren't equipped to understand how to successfully differentiate themselves," he explained.

Mr Katz suggested singles would have a lot better luck with online dating when they start employing descriptive words they would not usually use.

In a recent article in the Seattle Times, Judi Light Hopson, Emma Hopson and Ted Hagen advised against daters moving too quickly with new relationships, as jumping in bed together too soon will make it difficult for a healthy friendship to blossom.
