People trying out online dating need to pursue an active approach to the medium, it has been suggested.

Relationships expert David Kamau has advised users to take the initiative when they find somebody who grabs their attention and with whom they would like to get in contact, RNIF.com reports.

The specialist recommended individuals also make sure they respond to any messages they receive off a person who catches their eye.

He observed once a potential special someone is located, subscribers should not rush them into a meeting.

"It is advisable to take your time to know the people with whom you are interested," Mr Kamau explained.

He added allowing time to get to know someone through the web is generally a very positive approach.

In a recent article for thesunnews.net, Christina Abt described internet courtship as the main resource for hooking up, as visiting bars to meet people is no longer a viable method.
