Netra Rana has been a member of the Paralympics GB men's sitting volleyball team since 2009.

Ranan lost his left leg below the knee while serving in Afghanistan with the Gurkhas after an improvised explosive device was detonated.

However, he discovered sitting volleyball through Battle Back – a charity that helps wounded service personnel return to an active life – and has not looked back since.

Ranan made his international debut at the 2011 Harpers International and was named as the best libero – a specialist defensive position – by all competing players and coaches at the 2011 ECVD Continental Cup.

When he is not competing, the 28-year-old likes to watch films, go swimming and play football to keep himself busy.

Ranan is now set to make his debut at the Paralympic Games and it will be the first time that Paralympics GB has entered both male and female teams in the sitting volleyball competition.
