Over-60s are increasingly turning to online dating as a means of finding love.

This is according to research by Bowling Green State University in Ohio, which also found out that older singletons are more likely to be truthful on their profiles.

Dr Wendy Watson said: "We are finding that older adults appear to market themselves differently on online dating sites than younger adults. Gone is the focus on appearance and status."

She continued by saying that "honest self-representation" is important to silver surfers.

As well as this, individuals in this age bracket will post photos that are an accurate representation of what they actually look like.

Those who turn to the web to find that special someone in their 20s and 30s are more likely not to disclose certain information they think will make them appear less attractive.

Singletons may be keen to get a catchy username if they are looking to stand out from the crowd.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801296985-ADNFCR
