Meeting people online and chatting to them for some time first could be the best way to improve the chances that a first date will go according to plan.

James Preece, dating expert at the app Lovoo, has written a piece for Female First in which he explained online flirting prior to a date can be a great idea.

He said online flirting helps people to build a rapport much faster than they would if they spoke face-to-face initially.

These vital conversations are very similar to meeting in person and can "speed up the dating process considerably".

Mr Preece continued: "Flirting can set the scene before you meet up and makes your intentions clear. If you don't flirt then you'll probably find yourself stuck in the dreaded 'friends zone'."

With his words in mind, Britons may be wise to put plenty of effort into making conversations online as interesting and amusing as possible.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801667843-ADNFCR
