People who are having no joy with online dating sites have been advised to treat the process of looking for a new partner on the internet like a maths test.

Amy Webb, author of Data: A Love Story, is quoted by Digital Trends as saying finding the perfect match is all about getting the numbers right and searching for specific criteria.

Speaking at SXSW 2013, she explained the problem with some sites is that the questions they ask of users are not particularly relevant to the long-term success of a relationship.

"I don't care if he is a dog or a cat person. [These] questionnaires create a significant superficiality. I'm not looking for a pen pal, I'm looking for a husband," Ms Webb stated.

By using more specific search criteria, the expert found she was in a position to find more suitable prospective partners and rate their credentials on a more accurate scale.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801554367-ADNFCR
