Single soldiers considering online dating would be wise to view this method of meeting a partner in a similar way to preparing for an interview.

This is the advice of the Sacramento Press, which says internet dating services share many qualities with getting a new job.

It explains: "This is when you can search through possible candidates, weed them out and interact with them without making personal, physical contact."

Once each person has found somebody they connect with they might consider meeting them in person to see whether their relationship could work.

The news source reminds people to follow basic safety rules before doing so, such as meeting in a public place and telling a friend where they are going and at what time.

Texting a new love interest could also be a wise move, as the Huffington Post recently suggested sending an SMS can be fun and interesting when dating.
