Single soldiers using online dating as a way to meet someone should approach their profile in the same way they would a CV.

Cristen Conger from the Huffington Post explains these sections should showcase a person's best sides and not include mundane information that potential partners would find boring.

"For that reason, sift through online dating profiles with the discerning eye of an employer examining a stack of resumes," the piece suggests.

And it is wise to bear in mind a person may not be exactly the same as they appear online, as face-to-face meetings can give a more accurate impression.

Ms Conger assures readers online dating works, as many studies have proved plenty of couples meet via the internet.

Single soldiers might also want to remember advice from ADI News, which suggests showing a certain level of emotion but avoiding going over the top, as this can sometimes be a turn-off for prospective partners.
