Single soldiers could find that the process of creating an online dating profile is extremely beneficial.

According to Peter Spalton, founder of thedatingdoctor.co.uk, people can learn a lot about themselves by asking what they want out of a relationship.

He claims it enables singletons to define what they could bring to a partnership and decide what sort of person they would like to find.

Mr Spalton also has advice for those who have recently come out of a long-term relationship and says such individuals must take time to grieve and get over it before moving forwards.

"It's about having an attitude of 'I'm looking out for somebody' and one of the best ways to do that is to get on to internet dating," he notes.

Andrea Bartz and Brenna Ehrlich, writing for CNN, recently observed it is important to be complimentary when first making contact with a person, as this will achieve the best response.
