Moreover, an estimated 140 million individuals use the web to source prospective partners in China.

Marty Green, a clinical social worker at Purdue University, explained some of the reasons behind its popularity.

The specialist observed people are now viewing the process as a venue to meet in.

"Because of people’s time-frames [and] their busy-ness, it does get them access to larger social pools," he noted, before adding: "The internet has certainly provided us with more opportunities to expand."
