Online dating has inspired a playwright to pen a new drama about the ups and downs of internet love.

Ruby Miller used experiences witnessed by many of her friends on the web to create the production, the Islington Gazette reports.

The show, entitled Online Courting, previously premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and has now opened at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in Islington.

Ms Miller said: "The most romantic story is the people who tell you they went out on one date and they click and get married."

And audiences who saw the play in Edinburgh enjoyed it so much they went backstage and told the writer some tales of their own, she revealed.

The storyline follows the fortunes of two young professionals who venture into the world of online dating.

It will run at the London venue until April 30th, with tickets costing £10.
