Online dating has proved an inspiration for an author, who has penned a new book thanks to her experiences with the platform.

Lisa Becker began using the sites when she turned 30, as she was determined to find a partner, Easy Reader News explains.

She says it makes sense to turn to this method, at a time when technology is part of people's everyday lives.

"We're already married to our cell phones and laptops. Why not use them to get hitched to someone else?," she asks.

While Ms Becker admits she has not always found Mr Right immediately on the web, she believes it is worth going on dates and meeting new people in order to find an ideal suitor.

Online dating is also a good way to interact with people rather than the traditional option of going to a bar or club, as the Ottawa Citizen recently quoted relationships expert Judith Gere as saying it is ideal for middle-aged singletons.
