Online dating has changed the way people looking for love will interact with each other for good.

This is the opinion of Dan Slater, author of Love in the Time of Algorithms: What Technology Does to Meeting and Mating.

Speaking to USA Today, Mr Slater remarked the medium has vastly expanded the options open to people who want to find their Mr or Mrs Right.

"Everyone has access to so many more people than they were accustomed to in the past," he added.

The writer went on to note that age plays a big role in how people approach online dating, as older people who have been married before will have a different agenda to those approaching the web for the first time.

Mr Slater stated his research pointed out that internet relationships can start a lot faster than traditional in-person ones.
