Single soldiers who choose to try their hand at online dating in a bid to find a prospective partner may find the decision works wonders for their confidence.

Jo Hemmings, dating expert and psychologist, has noted that the dating world can be a bewildering place, the Daily Mail reports.

However, singles need to think of different ways of getting to know new people and they have to get themselves out in to the public domain, the specialist explained.

She observed internet courtship can be one method individuals use to boost their confidence in relation to corresponding with the opposite sex.

"Online dating is a great way to do that. Just take it slowly," Ms Hemmings recommended.

The Independent recently reported that the online dating industry appears to have thrived during the recession.

According to the newspaper, while other sectors have struggled, the economic uncertainty brought about by the downturn has resulted in people trying alternative routes in their quest to find love.
