The world of online dating is being explored in a new play, which has so far received great reviews.

Love, Sex and the Second City: A Romantic Dot Comedy, is currently being shown in Chigago, US, with its characters offering insights into the modern platform.

It uses a satirical approach to follow some of the main characters through their experiences with online dating – as well as couples who met via other means.

The Daily Herald describes the play as "a ride worth taking", while the Niles Herald Spectator notes: "An improvisation segment on opening night with audience input challenged the performers' quick-wittedness and demonstrated how well they can react in impromptu situations."

Singletons who go to watch the action unfold might find they are encouraged to experience online dating for themselves.

The platform has inspired a range of other productions and publications, such as a novel by author Lisa Becker, who used her own memories of dating via the web to pen it, Easy Reader News reported.
