Online dating ‘can help people find their perfect partner’

Looking for Mr or Mrs Right takes a lot of determination.

People will find themselves on a number of dates as they try to find like-minded individuals they deem worthy of starting a new relationship with.

Writing in the Huffington Post, professor of psychology Susan Krauss Whitbourne noted that for many, going out to look for a new partner "just seems too intimidating or impractical".

Because of this, many will turn to online dating in an effort to find the perfect person, as it offers a degree of anonymity and there are a lot of single people to choose from.

When it comes to making a profile, Professor Whitbourne recommends that individuals list what aspects of other profiles they really like and detest, as this should give them an indication of what information they think should be included.

Finally, she advises not talking to someone on the internet for too long, as it is best to organise a face-to-face meeting sooner rather than later.
