This is the view of Helena Johnstone – who met her husband over the web – and she has nothing but positive experiences from logging on.
She told the Daily Record that after going on 11 dates, she finally met her Mr Right in the shape of Iain.
Two years later, the couple are married and have a one-year-old girl called Freya.
Ms Johnstone admitted she used the internet because she felt she was "too old to go out and pick up guys", while she thinks "you're more likely to meet a weirdo in a bar than online".
When they tied the knot, the pair had an internet dating theme, with laptops made of icing on top of the wedding cake, while the room was arranged into types, such as winking and deleting tables.
Ms Johnstone encouraged people to give the web a go in their quest for love.
