Single soldiers using online dating in an attempt to find love could end up discovering their soulmate as a result.

This was the case for one couple in the US, who each claim to have located that special someone through the world wide web, Kval.com reports.

Bud Izen and Diane Foushee first got to know one another over the net – and their romance has blossomed ever since.

Ms Foushee said: "Neither one of us really has ever believed in the idea of soulmates or love at first sight or anything like that, until we met each other."

The pair noted the best way to meet someone suitable in cyberspace is for people to be honest from the outset about what it is they are looking for.

Psychologist from the Queensland University of Technology Zoe Hazelwood recently suggested singletons should make sure their spelling and grammar is up to scratch before posting on online dating websites, Sify.com reported.
