Those looking for love on the internet, which may include single soldiers, have to prepare for the ups and the downs, it has been suggested.

Krista Bryce, writing for the Nanaimo Daily News, observed people searching for love through the web need to be on the lookout for individuals who are not being completely truthful.

However, she added: "There are thousands of stories of successful online dating relationships."

Figures produced by the news provider show in the last year, 17 per cent of couples who married met on a dating site, while one-in-five single people have dated someone they met on one of the portals.

This shows there is a desire for people trying to find their soulmates, which may be of interest to those who have army pen pals.

One person who could have found love on a dating website recently is Kerry Katona, who has reportedly been on a date with a kick boxer she met online.
