Single soldiers who give online dating a try could find the practice helps boost their self confidence.

Writing for State Press, Lindsey Kupfer noted she received plenty of positive feedback when she entered the world of online dating.

"The winks and messages definitely boosted my self-esteem," she revealed.

Ms Kupfer said she was messaged by four individuals during the first week of setting up an account, while four other people showed interest in her profile.

The reporter admitted she did not realise how successful courting via the world wide web could be until she explored it first-hand.

She added her uncle married a woman he met on the net, her friend's mother has enjoyed long-term relationships through the digital realm and two more pals met their partners through the medium as well.

Last week, the Dear Coleen section of the Mirror noted dating via the internet means there is no pressure to commit sexually to a partner, which is not always the case when hooking up in person.
