Single soldiers looking for love may find one of the many benefits of online dating is the convenience it offers.

The University of Texas at El Paso (Utep) Prospector noted one of the plusses of the medium is that it can be done "anytime, anywhere".

According to the website, the approach can be ideal for busy youngsters whose hectic work and social lives do not leave them much time to focus on forming a relationship.

Utep junior student Jenna Portillo met her husband via the world wide web and said she loved the experience of finding a prospective partner in cyberspace.

She explained: "Online dating gives you the chance not to tell everything about yourself right away … You can talk as much or as little as you want in email, phone or in person."

In a recent article for the Duquesne Duke, Alison Keene suggested internet courtship could become the norm in years to come, as it is quickly emerging as a popular route through which singles can get together.
