Online dating websites are becoming increasingly popular with young people and are no longer exclusive to ageing divorcees.
The Newcastle Herald has told the story of veterinary science student Steph Wyllie, who is just one of thousands of people in their 20s looking for love online.
Experts believe a "fundamental shift" is taking place in the way online dating platforms are accessed by those in their 20s and 30s.
Ms Wyllie signed up to an Australian site a month ago and has received in the region of 150 'virtual kisses' from prospective partners, indicating just how many younger people are searching for somebody via the web.
She admitted to being worried about the possibility that many people would be looking for casual relationships, but "it's not the case".
While there are still some misconceptions about internet dating, these are slowly being erased and the web is becoming a top place to look for love.
