Online dating could be the ideal way for single soldiers to meet prospective partners, especially if they are not keen on meeting other people in public places, it has been suggested.

In an article on Mercury News, Jessica Yadegaran used the example of two successful internet daters to push this point across.

Tiffany Garcia and Matt Weber met via the world wide web five years ago and now the couple are married.

Mr Weber noted the medium was perfect for him as he did not like the idea of hooking up with women in places such as bars and nightclubs.

And Ms Garcia said the nature of Mr Weber's online profile played a vital role in the attraction.

She explained: "People have a certain need to brand themselves and his was more authentic and genuine."

In a recent article for Manchester Confidential, Mark Jorgensen recommended daters meeting for the first time should take part in a fun activity as a way to break the ice.
