Guys and girls who hook up through online dating may want to take things slow at first if they want their pairing to blossom into a healthy relationship.

In an article in the Seattle Times, Judi Light Hopson, Emma Hopson and Ted Hagen have warned that jumping into bed with a prospective partner too soon can be a detrimental move.

The experts noted quick sex tends to cut off any chance of a healthy friendship developing, because people start to be on their guard once they have been intimate with someone.

They explained: "If you're having sex with a new love interest, you aren't going to mention the fact you're behind on two car payments or you need dental work."

Writing recently for the Examiner, Tanisha Amos advised women to be truthful when describing themselves to would-be suitors on the net, as lying will only cause complications down the line.
