Online daters ‘need proactive approach’

People should "always be proactive" when it comes to dating online.

This is the advice from James Preece, dating guru at onlinedatingclinic.com, who noted individuals have to remember they are competing with others.

"Do email people you want to look up and let them know you exist – otherwise those that are pro-active will get their attention," he added.

Mr Preece remarked that no one should be afraid to search around for people that interest them, as there is no point in wasting time on someone if it is going nowhere.

The expert – who has over eight years experience in the UK dating market – went on to note individuals have to be prepared for a bit of rejection as well, as they are unlikely to find Mr or Mrs Right on the first date.

He added typically people get better at meeting up with individuals the more they try it.
