Niche sites ‘good for those with common interests’

Niche dating sites can be perfect for those who know exactly what they are looking for in a man or woman.

Typically, these portals will be framed around a particular interest and so individuals who meet through this medium will have at least something in common.

This means single soldiers could find their best chance of a successful match is to meet up with a prospective partner who has an interest in the military.

Mark Brooks, editor of the industry news website Online Personals Watch, told the Daily Telegraph: "Niche dating can get the toughest questions out of the way up front."

Mr Brooks – who has worked in the sector since 1998 – added he thinks a lot of people will go into dating online unsure of what they actually want.

Internet entrepreneur Nick Shread, who met his partner on the web, stated he was delighted he found an independent and free-thinking female through the medium.
