A new service aimed at boosting the psychological wellbeing of wounded soldiers has been launched in Catterick by the national veteran's charity, Help for Heroes.

The Hidden Wounds psychological wellbeing service is already up and running in Tedworth House, Wiltshre, and is now also in Phoenix House, Catterick.

The charity claims that it will help them to reach more Veterans and Armed Forces families, who will now be able to access face to face support at either recovery centre and also by phone or by Skype.
The recovery centres are designed to support veterans of any conflict, their families and the families of those currently serving who are living with significant anxiety, stress, or worry.

A a statement by the charity, said: "These emotions affect many of us on a day to day basis but when they become dominant for days, weeks or even months at a time, it can be difficult to manage them alone.

"The service helps individuals to understand and positively manage these emotions, by giving them a set of skills that can be used in everyday situations to challenge and modify their behaviour in certain situations."

A report by Combat Stress revealed that a 26 per cent rise in the number of ex-Service personnel seeking help for mental ill-health and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) over the last 12 months.

The rise has mainly been accounted for by a marked rise in those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan seeking help.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801788199-ADNFCR
