A soldier who lost both of his legs while on duty in Afghanistan has officially opened a new super-gym and rehabilitation centre for other troops who have been injured in combat.

Sergeant Gavin Harvey, of 6 Close Support Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, cut the ribbon at the purpose-built Physical and Recreation Training Centre in Tidworth Garrison.

Soldiers who use the gym will find super hi-tech equipment to use for physical fitness as well as recovering from injury.

Sergeant Harvey said that places like this can help others to be like him and recover from their injuries.

"Having a facility like this is great establishment to better yourself and your fitness levels. The centre is going to give soldiers a better fighting chance of full recovery if they raise their fitness," he stated.

Something else troops can use to keep their fitness up is a pair of Skechers Shape Ups, which help tone the leg muscles and strengthen them, according to Fitness Footwear.
