New ‘scorching’ version of football unveiled

Football is often called the beautiful game and is undoubtedly one of the most popular sports in the world.

However, a bunch of students from Indonesia have shown they are willing to play a more extreme version of the pastime.

The game they play is similar to beach football, with one subtle difference – they use a coconut that is set on fire as the ball!

Match organiser Ali Akhyar said: "We make a fireball to test the guts of the students."

Individuals have to spend 21 days preparing to take part in the contest and during this time period they pray, fast and learn how to tame fire.

They typically go through six coconuts in a 60-minute game and it is clear that this sport is not for the faint hearted.

I'm sure if asked most people would say they would prefer to play a normal game of football over this inferno version any day of the week.
