A new appeal has been set up to aid troops returning home after serving in the Armed Forces overseas.

Patricia Hall, whose son – Guardsman Aaron Scott – was involved in a tour of duty in Afghanistan, created Supporting the Returnees of our Nation’s Guards (Strong), This is Nottingham reports.

Ms Hall noted she came up with the idea after hearing her offspring’s tales of fighting abroad.

A launch event for the body is taking place at the Hyson Green Community Centre in Gregory Boulevard.

It will be welcoming guests tomorrow (Saturday July 16th) between 16:00 and 18:00 BST.

The parent said she was encouraged to help when her son remarked: "I have children and I want to know they can grow up safely in Nottingham without fear of terrorist attacks."

It was recently reported businesses in Essex had clubbed together to fund the publication of two soldier handbooks to help troops and their families acclimatise to life on Carver Barracks.
