A music celebration has been organised to raise funds for brave troops.

Nags Fest is a nine-hour jovial event that will generate money for Help for Heroes, the Scarborough Evening News reports.

The get-together is being held at the Nag's Head in Scalby on August 21st, from 14:00 BST – with the festivities continuing until 23:00.

Entry to the gathering – which will include performances from Connor and the Flames, The Algerinos and Windfall – is free, but cash will be raised from the grand prize draw and a barbeque.

Landlord Dave Wilkinson said the charity is close to the pub's heart.

"I was in the RAF and a lot of regulars have family serving in the armed forces," he added.

Chris Du'Mont a 22-year-old daredevil, recently revealed he hopes to raise at least £1,500 for Help for Heroes by kayaking across the English Channel – a 23-mile journey between Dover and Calais.
