A group of ten mums have donned 1950s-style costumes to pose in a charity calendar to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

The Warrington Guardian reports the host of women decided to generate cash for the forces' organisation – which provides help and support for injured troops – after meeting while taking their children to St Elphin's CE Primary School.

After discussing their fundraising plans over a glass of wine, the mums decided to rope in a Manchester-based fancy dress company to supply vintage clothes for the shoot, which was intended to mirror the look of 1950s sweethearts waiting for their soldier boyfriends to return home.

Andrea Holland explained: "It's brought out a different side to us that we did not know was there."

In addition to the £10 calendars going on sale, the mums have also held a jitterbug ball and vintage tea party to continue the 1950s feel of their fundraising.

A cheeky calendar featuring everyday girls from the north-east of England was recently produced to raise proceeds for Help for Heroes, the Northern Echo reported.
