A woman in the US was given a nasty surprise when she tucked into her breakfast cereal recently, only to find a mouse bone between the oats.
Shea Boman-Smead did not realise the bone was in the food until she had finished the majority of her morning meal.
"As I was taking a drink, I noticed something long in there. It was not shaped like the cereal. And I thought, there's absolutely no way…," she explained.
She immediately got in touch with manufacturer Quaker and was given an apology and asked to send the piece of bone in question back to them for tests.
Ms Boman-Smead said she felt more should have been done to solve the issue, noting if the cereal was contaminated she could easily have become sick.
The US citizen also described the discovery as "gross" and suggested that other people may well have had a similar problem with a mouse bone in their cereal.
