One man is to take on Cho Oyu, one of the world's highest peaks, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.

Mountain climber Chris Holland is to travel to the Tibet-Nepal border and climb the mountain, which lies about 20 miles west of Mount Everest.

It is the sixth highest mountain in the world at 26,907 ft, emphasising the size of his task and how much effort he will have to put in to complete the challenge.

Mr Holland has experience of climbing in the Himalayas in the past, although Cho Oyu is the biggest peak he has aimed to reach to date.

"Given the high altitude, length of time up high and the possibility of fickle weather on this big hill, success is not guaranteed but I hope that any monies pledged will be honoured for this worthy charity," he stated.

The climber pointed out that, as he is 6ft 5in tall, he would probably be the highest person on Earth at the moment he reaches the top.ADNFCR-2867-ID-801602042-ADNFCR
