A mother of a serviceman in Afghanistan is working to support soldiers in her efforts for a charitable organisation.

Clare Marshall-Threse, the mother of Aaron, who is a lance corporal military police officer, spoke to Burton Mail about her participation in the Help for Heroes and Support Our Soldiers initiatives.

Ms Marshall-Threse said that she is looking to sell her supply of Help for Heroes wristbands and is also planning a social evening to raise funds.

She also noted how she has been assisting the local Support Our Soldiers co-ordinator: "I help with the wrapping of the boxes that get sent to Afghanistan.

"They start off as empty shoeboxes and you can put things in them like toiletries and sweets."

David Henry, an ex-serviceman now working in Iraq, recently revealed to the Northern Echo that he is to take part in the Brighton Marathon on April 18th to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
